INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY
India signed Strategic Partnership Agreement with International Energy Agency (IEA).
India is the first IEA Association country to take a formal step to further advance ties with the Agency.
India joined the IEA Family as an Association country in 2017.
INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY
It was established in 1974 by Industrialised countries within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – in response to 1973 oil crisis.
Headquarters (Secretariat): Paris, France.
The countries seeking to become members of the IEA must also be members of the OECD and hold 90 days of oil imports as commercial stocks.
It has 30 members at present.
IEA family also includes eight association countries.
Association countries -Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Singapore, South Africa and Thailand.
