Karnataka Chief Minister laid foundation stone for the ‘New Anubhava Mantapa’ in Basavakalyan.
It will be six-floor structure and will represent various principles of Basaveshwara’s philosophy.
It will showcase the 12th century Anubhava Mantapa which is often termed as the ‘first parliament of the world’.
The new building will adopt the Kalayana Chalukya style of Architecture
Basaveshwara was a 12th centrury – Indian Philosopher, poet and saint located in Karnataka.
He was a social reformer who lived during the reign of western chalukyas.
Propounder of Lingayatism which was a Shivite Bhakti movement.
He spread his social messages through poetry known as Vachanas.
He rejected caste, gender and other discriminations.
He established -‘Anubhava Mandapa’ or ‘the hall of spiritual experience’. It discussed spiritual and mundane questions of life, in open.
The men and women from all socio-economic backgrounds were allowed to discuss in Anubhava Mandapa.
